While Jatropha trees are typically renowned for their ability to handle dryness very well (it is possible for them to live almost entirely from the moisture in the air),
they are no different than any other plant species in the sense that differences in yield depend on availability of rainfall or irrigation water.
Jatropha yields are optimal where annual rainfall is at least 800 mm. All our plantations receive, on average, about 1200 mm of incident annual rainfall.
KIMMINIC is developing pockets of small dams throughout our plantations to harvest rainfall and provide irrigation systems to take care of short-term soil moisture deficits so that optimal yield is always maintained.
